Voxel8 is a multi-material digital manufacturing footwear company that

expanded into a new space within the Somernova campus. Use of color

branded the interior of the repurposed Ames manufacturing facility. The

commonly-used hexagonal pattern for shoes was translated into carpet tiles

with a pop of color that accented the existing exposed structure, while

speaking the same language as the light fixture above the open office

area. Existing exterior windows, surrounded by interior spaces were kept

to create a visual connection between office, lab, and entry while respecting

the building’s history. With the new windows and storefront, Voxel8’s work

can now be showcased to all who visit Somernova.
